After-School Curriculum

MindWorks Resources offers hands-on, interactive after-school curriculum for elementary and middle school. Our highly qualified, multi-disciplinary team of educators has developed a fun, engaging and academically based after-school curriculum that is perfectly aligned with the requirements for the 21st Century Community Learning Centers (CCLC) grant and simple to use!

A series of creatively designed "clubs" are the foundation for our unique curriculum. The six unique clubs provide students with the opportunity to master core academic objectives utilizing interactive, multi-sensory activities. With student centered learning and personally relevant lessons, you'll see mastery of core objectives, daily school attendance and positive behavior skyrocket!

Planning is simple, implementation is a snap and fun is the name of the game when using MindWorks Resources curriculum. After-school staff are easily able to follow the flow of each lesson using the simple format and easy to follow graphical guides. With our curriculum, preparation is quick and easy!

The straightforward design of this curriculum guides the instructor through setting a foundation for learning with pre-activity discussion questions, completing the activity by following easy, step by step instructions and summarizing the lesson with post-activity discussion questions. With such an easy, yet thorough curriculum, directors will see increased retention of trained staff!

After School Clubs

Math Matters (mathematics, finances, and cooking)

Students of all ages can prepare for their future by exploring math concepts, cooking, and financial literacy in fun and exciting ways. Math is made relevant for students through the use of a wide variety of manipulatives, interactive math games and hands-on activities specifically designed to correlate with state standards. Students will explore critical personal finance topics such as budgeting, maintaining good credit, how to afford higher education and many more real world topics. The club will add an excitement for math not seen through traditional curriculum.

Bring on the Books (literacy and character building)

Bring on the books...bring on the fun! This interactive club provides a wide array of literacy experiences to promote a life-long love of reading. Mastery of grade level objectives and personal character building will be the focus of this club through meaningful and personally relevant activities. Uniquely designed age appropriate book clubs will focus on pre-reading foundations, emergent literacy activities, improved reading comprehension and vocabulary development through activities such as studies of authors and illustrators, exploration of curriculum focused themes and characterization study.

Around the World (social studies and global awareness)

From historical events to thinking green, Around the World will journey through social studies and environmental awareness in a whole new way. Science, math, history, poetry, creative writing, consumer economics, citizenship and beyond will be incorporated into meaningful, interactive activities that address core academic objectives. Students will have the opportunity to experience both indoor and outdoor activities in their quest for global awareness. Technology will be utilized to relive history and delve into the future. Literature will be incorporated to expand social horizons. This club will open up a world of possibilities for social studies and global awareness.

Spreading the Word (creative writing and communication)

Writing will come alive through creative literacy experiences designed with students in mind. Newsletters, magazines, poetry, story writing, plays and narratives will serve as the foundation for a wealth of engaging literacy experiences. Students will be encouraged to use unique and interactive forms of age appropriate writing as a means of communicating ideas, sharing experiences, exploring creativity and interpreting information. Writing objectives have never been this much fun!

Exploration (science and technology)

Exploration...unlocking the mystery of science and technology. In this interactive club, students are engaged in hands-on science and technology experiences that promote critical thinking, creativity , imagination, prediction, problem solving and higher level thinking skills. Grade level objectives will merge with real world application using fun and motivating activities that will leave students eager for more. 21st century technology, robotics, and other interactive materials for exploration of science, math, social studies and beyond will help students of all ages build a solid foundation for future educational experiences, job possibilities and life skills.

Art in Action (fine arts and creativity)

Creativity and imagination abound in Art in Action. Through art, dance, music and theatrical experiences, students will explore the world of fine arts and express themselves through meaningful outlets. This innovatively designed club will allow students to master fine arts objectives in unique and personally relevant ways while having loads of fun! Look out world...this is where stars are born!
