Lynly (Shields) Stephen was raised in the mid-sized, west Texas town of Abilene. She is the sibling of an older brother with Autism, and her parents are very accomplished in the realm of special education and disabilities. Her mother, Rosalind (Shields) Buffaloe, directed Kenley School of Abilene for more than 25 years and serves as a devoted advocate for individuals with Autism.  Her late father, Judson Shields, was a business man, banker, and most recently realized his dream as a beloved and highly respected junior high school science teacher. Together, her parents co-founded Disability Resources Incorporated in Abilene, Texas to provide managed housing and employment opportunities for adults with developmental disabilities.

Lynly has always been a “people person”. Since her youth she knew she wanted to work in the field of special education. However, it wasn’t until after she earned her Master’s degree in speech pathology that she would discover her passion for professional speaking.

She has presented to hundreds of audiences over the course of her career, from targeted training to groups as small as 5-10 people to larger conference sessions for audiences of several hundred people at a time.

Lynly loves being in front of an audience. In large-crowd settings, she easily keeps the audience engaged with her energy, passion, and knowledge regarding her topics. With smaller groups Lynly prefers to address the individual needs of the audience members through customized information and activities. Her workshops and trainings are very “hands-on” to ensure participants are deeply engaged and having a good time. She believes that people learn best when they are having fun and enjoying themselves, and this is the cornerstone of her presentation methodology. When conducting workshops, she likes to go to lunch with participants to learn more about them, develop personal and professional relationships, and get a sense for the local flare of the community she is presenting in.

While not running the business, Lynly enjoys traveling and spending time with family and friends. She is active in her children’s school, church, and other social settings. In her down-time she enjoys cooking, shopping, having coffee with friends, working out at the gym, spending time with her family, playing with her black Labrador Retriever, and watching Dallas Stars hockey.
