Teaching with Purpose: Essential Learning Centers

Teaching with Purpose engages early childhood, pre-k, kindergarten and early elementary teachers as well as speech pathologists and occupational therapists in two days of fun, functional, hands-on learning. Participants will be enlightened and inspired by this practical approach to establishing essential centers filled with language rich, meaningful, child-centered activities. The importance of play and hands-on learning through developmentally appropriate classroom curriculum will gain new significance as learning styles and effective ways to manage centers are explored. In addition to great hands on activities and the opportunity to participate in learning centers, participants will leave the workshop with their own personal blueprint for active learning through hands-on centers.

Course Objectives:

  • Importance of play and hands-on learning for language and literacy development in preschool children
  • The significance and functionality of learning centers in the early childhood classroom
  • Techniques to ensure learning centers are developmentally appropriate and promote optimum learning
  • How to effectively provide Tier 1 Response to Intervention (RtI) through learning centers
