In We Built This City, students take on the role of urban planners, architects, and community leaders as they explore what makes a city thrive. Through hands-on projects and real-world problem-solving, they design and construct their own cities while learning about geography, engineering, math, and language arts. Whether they're brainstorming innovative city layouts, constructing bridges, designing city seals, or creating laws, students will develop critical thinking, teamwork, and creative skills. Each lesson connects learning to the real world, making concepts come alive through engaging activities such as designing hydropower plants, testing speed bumps, and writing persuasive speeches for a city council meeting.
Students will also explore sustainability by designing eco-friendly communities, learning about the science of sound in city landscapes, and experimenting with oxidation by studying the Statue of Liberty. From understanding urban planning to creating a marketing campaign for a new city attraction, We Built This City ensures students gain hands-on experience with the challenges and excitement of city development.
