The Afterschool Alliance is a national nonprofit organization dedicated to ensuring that all children have access to affordable, quality afterschool programs. Established in 2000, the Alliance works to increase public and private investments in afterschool initiatives across the United States. With a network of over 28,000 program partners, the organization serves as both an advocate and a resource center for afterschool programs nationwide.
The Alliance focuses on key areas such as academic support, enrichment, social-emotional learning (SEL), and college and career readiness. By collaborating with policymakers, educators, and community leaders, the organization aims to address the unmet demand for afterschool programs, particularly in underserved and economically disadvantaged communities. Their efforts include research, policy advocacy, and public awareness campaigns to highlight the importance of out-of-school time (OST) programs.
